Terms of Service

Last updated: 9 October 2026

1.The service

Kontua provides an accounting and client relationship platform: a client portal, document management, e-signatures, deadline tracking, email, and AI-assisted data extraction.

Kontua is currently invite-only. Access is granted at our discretion after you request an account.

2.Your account

You must provide accurate information when you register and keep your credentials confidential. Two-factor authentication is available and strongly recommended.

The person who creates a workspace is its administrator and is responsible for the staff and clients they invite, and for managing their access.

You must be authorised to run an accounting or bookkeeping practice to use Kontua for client work.

3.Your data

You retain all rights to the data your firm and your clients upload. We claim no ownership over it.

You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and transmit that data solely to provide the service to you.

You are responsible for having a lawful basis to upload your clients’ personal data, and for the accuracy of the records you keep in Kontua.

4.Acceptable use

You must not use Kontua to break the law, infringe others’ rights, distribute malware, or attempt to access another firm’s workspace.

You must not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that you have no right to share.

We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

5.E-signatures and AI features

Electronic signatures collected through Kontua are intended to be legally binding under the UK Electronic Communications Act 2000 and eIDAS-derived UK law. You are responsible for deciding whether an electronic signature is appropriate for a given document.

AI-assisted extraction (for example, reading receipts and invoices) is provided as an aid, not a guarantee. You remain responsible for reviewing figures before filing or advising clients.

6.Availability and support

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible.

Support is provided by email at support@kontua.com.

7.Fees and cancellation

Pricing is agreed when your workspace is set up. Any fees are billed as described in your plan.

You may cancel at any time by emailing support@kontua.com. On cancellation we will make your data available for export for 30 days before deletion, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8.Liability

Kontua is a tool for your practice; it does not provide accounting, tax, or legal advice. Professional judgement remains yours.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Otherwise, our aggregate liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost data where you have not kept your own backups.

9.Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes are notified by email before they take effect; continued use after that point constitutes acceptance.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
